Why sports?
Sports are Fun!
...and that is - by far - the most important thing. Remember, they are kids, and playing with or making new friends while running around is fun.
Promoting an Active Lifestyle
Being on the move helps kids stay in shape and builds athleticism and endurance. Developing an active lifestyle early means there's a better chance kids maintain it in the long run.
Learning Sportsmanship
Competition is part of the game, but more importantly, kids learn sportsmanship and how to overcome adversity — like a missed shot or a foul call. Being a good sport, in athletics and life, is essential.
Discipline
If a child knows they have a game that evening but cannot play unless homework is done, it's more likely to get done! Kids start setting priorities without even realizing it.
Teamwork
Team sports let kids make lasting friendships, develop communication skills, feel a sense of community and learn to respect their teammates and coaches.
